If you’re a real coffee lover taking all your equipment to the campsite can seem like a bit of a faff when you have already packed your entire house, your kids and dog into the back of your vehicle. However, going without your morning brew isn’t an option either. So what are the alternatives for getting the best coffee for camping? Well, we think we’ve found an alternative to carrying a hand grinder and percolator with you to the campsite.
The Single Origin Coffee Company offer handmade single-serve coffee bags containing the finest freshly ground, single estate/origin coffees from around the world, which are either Rainforest Alliance, UTZ Certified, Fairtrade or certified organic.
We thought we would test it out to see if it really was as good as they claimed, and how easy they would be to use at the campsite. We’ve never been impressed with instant coffee of any description, so we were sceptical and very keen to try it out.
We (naturally) picked the Brazilian Coffee bag to brew and after heating the water on our Biolite stove to just below boiling we added it to our cup. Note: according to coffee connoisseurs putting boiling water on the ground coffee can burn it and leave it with a bitter after-taste. The packet instructed us to leave it in for a set time depending on the strength we were after. We love our coffee strong so we left it for the maximum time.
So what was our final verdict? Well, we thought it was the perfect brew and definitely the best coffee for camping we’d ever tasted and certainly something to have in your campervan, camping kitchen or ready bag if you are a coffee lover. To take your coffee making skills to the next level you may want to enrol in some coffee making courses.
We will also be adding this product to our ever-expanding camping list too. Also, for any glamping businesses reading this, it is the perfect product to include in your guest’s welcome package.
